Tournament „From the Backyard to the Stadium – Tymbark Cup” is the largest, not only in Poland but in Europe as well, football tournament for primary school pupils. The Final Game of the tournament is player in the National Stadium in Warsaw.
In 2014, XIV-th edition of the Tournament, the championship competition was divided into two age categories: U-10 and U-12, whilst from XV-th edition, it will be divided into three groups as follows: U-8, U-10, and U-12. The main idea of the Tournament is to promote sport competition and increase sport activity among children, picking up football best players and making their dreams come true. Every year, it is attended by several hundred thousand children. In 2014 the competition was attended by more than 270 000 children from the entire country, and the total number of children that participated in all 14 editions is almost a million. The competiton includes matches played in the entire country including all communes, districts, and provinces The Polish Champions are the winners of the Grand Final match. The best girl- and boy-teams in each category are selected. The most characteristic thing about the games is a pool of emotions and an amazing main prze – Tymbark Cup, Polish Champion title and a trip to the Polish national team match. Previous winners of the Tournament have visited such locations as Wembley, Camp Nou, Santiago Bernabeu, San Siro and Amsterdam Arena. The winners of 2013 competition attended England vs. Poland match at legendary Wembley stadium and then played a friendly match against their English peers. The match was won by Polish team 6:1. In 2012, unique “Flag Action” run as part of the Tournament enabled the teams that won the provincial finale in 2012 to fulfil their dreams and meet the players of the national teams that participated in the 2012 UEFA Euro Championship. Young players had the opportunity to hand over their national flags with signatures of participants of provincial finals to football stars such as Ronaldo, Iniesta, Casillas, Rooney or Błaszczykowski. 11 Polish national team players, in various age groups, were brought up from the Tournament including gold and bronze medalists of U-17 European championships.
The official sponsor of the tournament is Tymbark and the organizer is the Polish Football Association. Honorary Patronage for XV edition was taken by First Lady of Poland, as well as UEFA – Grassroots Programme, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Sport and Tourism.
